What Will Happen with the Hungry and the Poor?

Trump has yet to mention how he will help tackle poverty and food injustice in America, and now anti-poverty advocates are fearing his silence on the subject.

There are 43 million people in America who suffer from hunger and poverty, and many of them rely on food stamps and organizations that lend help throughout the year, to simply survive.

Last year 4.7 million Americans relied on food stamps from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to keep them from going hungry.

While House Speaker Paul Ryan has kept a steady agenda on improving conditions for the homeless and hungry population in America, President-elect Trump has yet to present his plans on the matter.

Food justice and anti-poverty leaders are closely watching Trump’s choice for leaders who will become heads of those programs, and who will influence the direction and funding of programs that keep millions from going hungry every year.
