Wells Fargo Seeks to Tackle Housing Crisis with $20M Innovation Challenge

The company Wells Fargo is incentivizing innovators through a $20 million challenge that seeks to unveil new solutions to America’s housing crisis.

“The cost burden of housing in this country is changing very rapidly. Over 30 percent of Americans today pay over 30 percent of their income for housing each month. A subset of that are almost 18 million people paying over 50 percent of their own income for housing costs … those people are sacrificing other important parts of their life, their health, their food and their education,” said Jon Campbell, Executive VP and Head of Corporate Philanthropy at Wells Fargo.

The innovation challenge is calling on great thinkers to come up with new solutions for creating lower costs to housing, more financing options for families, and the social services necessary to help those who need housing.
