According to a new study published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), general anesthetics may cause harm to a child’s developing brain.

The report states that repeated use of sedation drugs will most likely impact children under the age of 3.

Furthermore, the study mentions that expectant mothers in their third trimesters should not be repeatedly exposed to general anesthetics as it could impact the brain development of their children.

The FDA conducted an experiment in which mice were exposed to high doses of sedation drugs and ultimately lacked physical and behavioral skills.

Researchers warn continual exposure to general anesthetics could cause behavioral problems and even contribute to neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism.
