New Governmental Policies Could Change Nonprofit Sectors

Nonprofits may face negative repercussions as a result of governmental policy changes.

Over 11 million jobs are provided by nonprofits, but new federal politics can significantly diminish the positions available within sectors.

With potential financial cuts aimed at downsizing local and state governmental programs, nonprofit organizations may have to serve more individuals with a limited budget.

In addition, the elimination of the Johnson Amendment, which prevents nonprofits from using tax-deductible donations to endorse or oppose political candidates, could negatively impact the ways nonprofit sectors operate.

Experts fear that policy changes imposed by the government could impact the ways in which philanthropists donate their time and money to nonprofits.
