The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City has begun to incorporate Native American art within American art galleries, a move that aims to highlight the unique nature of the art’s culture.

Many museums are improving their efforts to highlight the importance of Native art, especially within the fabric of America’s diverse artistic history.

Galleries devoted to American art now include Native sculptures and ceramics which were previously held in separate exhibits.

The introduction of Native American art in integrated museum galleries has also helped to recognize the rich works created by female artists.

In addition to museums incorporating Native American art, over 50 museums have opened that are exclusively run by tribes.
