Researchers at Harvard University are conducting a new study to examine the formal and informal education children receive before beginning kindergarten.

The study, which is expected to begin in late 2017, will examine the differences between formal and informal child care and its impacts on children throughout their early development.

Formal education, which consists of preschool programs, has been considered by many child care experts as being superior to informal education.

Children involved in informal arrangements often stay with relatives or friends rather than attending formal child care programs.

The researchers involved in the study will examine how the two types of child care impact participants’ relationships and interactions with others.
