African American Research Collaborative Finds Increase in Black Voters for Democrats

According to surveys taken by the African American Research Collaborative in collaboration with several organizations, including NAACP, the number of African Americans voting for Democrats was overwhelming for the midterm elections.

At least 9 out of 10 African American voters who were at the polls this year said they were voting for a Democrat, and at least 89 percent of black women and 83 percent of black men said that the administration’s policies were creating “setbacks for racial progress.”

The survey found that black women played a major role in the election of more women and Democrats for Congress, and were more than 90 percent more likely to vote for a Democrat.

At least 72 percent of African Americans in the survey said that they felt Democrats did a good job in reaching the African American population, while 12 percent said the same about GOP.
