ACLU Report Reveals “Brutality and Lawlessness” By Immigration Officials

According to a new report from the American Civil Liberties Union, children who have been held at the border are being mistreated by officials in multiple ways.

The ACLU examined more than 30,000 documents, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, and claimed that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection has allowed hundreds of cases of abuse between 2009 and 2014.

Leaders of the ACLU said that the documents reveal a history of “brutality and lawlessness” in the federal immigration system, including cases where a pregnant minor was denied access to seek medical care, running over a minor and abusing him, and incidents of harassment.
